P90X and Aging: Lean Body Mass
It’s an undeniable fact that, as we age and leave middle-age behind, we begin to lose our lean body mass and replace it with fatty body mass. This, surprisingly, mostly has to do with hormones. Hormones, as well as the neurotransmitters that send messages from your hormones to your brain, regulate all of the functions that help keep our body fit and healthy. They regulate appetite, digestion, energy production, and repair, rebuilding and growth. As we age, the “youth hormones” that send the messages that we want in order to keep our body fit are replaced by more and more stress related hormones, called cortisol, and our body tends to begin to change. However, there are also more recent studies that show that incorporating an exercise program such as P90X into your life can decrease the frequency of your migraines, which, in turn, will obviously increase the overall quality of your life. What’s the research to back this up? Read the rest of this entry »
