P90X Reviews: Are You Hooked on the Pain?
There are many things that people love about doing P90X. They love the weight loss. They love the muscle toning. They love the way that they end up healthier and therefore more active. They even love the way that a regular workout routine reduces their stress level overall and leads to a happier lifestyle. However, for some people, what they love most about P90X is the pain. Yes, that’s right. There are those out there (and even some of us on the Finish Well Fitness Blog staff) who are just a little bit addicted to the pain.
Loving the hard, painful feeling that you get after you’ve done twenty pull-ups on your P90X Chin Up Bar isn’t necessarily a bad thing though. The pain that you feel after a workout is (mostly) good pain. It’s the pain that comes from doing something healthy that will make you a better person. Plus, the pain reminds you that you pushed yourself to the max during your workout. You didn’t leave anything on the table.
Of course, like anything, it’s possible to take your love of workout pain to an extreme that’s not healthy. We certainly don’t support that! But looking forward to the sore muscles and overall fatigue after a workout means that you’re working out as hard as you can and you’re enjoying the physical feeling of proof that you’re working out as hard as you can. That’s something that should be celebrated. And it’s okay to miss that feeling on days when you don’t have your workout. Sure, part of that feeling is endorphin-high, but part of it is also the pain being proof that you, my friend, are awesome.
If you’re regularly feeling total fatigue and pain after a workout, however, you may not be giving yourself enough in terms of recovery between workouts. It’s okay to love your workout pain! That’s a sign of being successful at your workout! Just don’t take it over the edge!
