P90X Review: A Better Investment Than Gym Memberships
With the recession in full swing, we’re all being more conscious about where and how we spend our money. So we’ve heard over and over again that people don’t think that they have the money to purchase the P90X program. Oddly, though, we then see those same people joining gyms. We did the math, and we think that P90X is a wiser investment than a gym membership. Here’s why!
Raw Numbers: The P90X home workout system will cost you $120, made in three payments of $40 with a shipping and handling charge. Let’s even make you look at numbers that are a little worse and say that in the end you’ll spend $200. That may seem like a big chunk when you look at it compared with a monthly gym fee of an average of $20 (and that’s on the low end). However, what most gyms don’t tell you until you’re there signing up is that that monthly gym membership requires you to make a full year commitment that you’ll often have to pay for up front, so immediately you’re already looking at $240. Even before we tell you all of the other reasons that P90X is a better investment, the upfront raw dollars are typically just less. And with P90X, you’re not paying for gas and transport to get to the gym that you already paid to join!
There When You Need It: So let’s say you purchase the gym membership, and then you get injured or sick or get a great opportunity to go somewhere for a couple of months. Too bad! You’re still paying that gym membership fee whether you’re using it or not. And at the end of the year, you’ll need to pay it all over again. However, once you buy P90X, it’s yours to keep and you can workout when you want. At the end of the ninety days maybe you want to get P90X Plus, but you don’t need to. You can go an entire year with just the P90X dvds if you want. You’ve given yourself a workout tool that can last for, literally years. With the gym membership, you’ve given yourself a twelve month window to make value from your money.
To review then, not only will you ultimately end up spending less money with a P90X purchase or a purchase of any of the P90X workout products, but you’ll have an asset to keep. Both of those seem like wise investment guidelines to us: spend less and get more. P90X: It’s recession friendly (and also doesn’t come with a smelly locker room attached).
