P90X Nutrition: Do Multivitamins Make a Difference
P90X isn’t just a ninety-day workout plan. Sure, the extreme home fitness workouts that you’ll do during the three months of P90X are the bulk of the program and the main catalyst for transforming your body. However, P90X is a much more complete program than just workouts! It also comes with the P90X Nutrition plan, which teaches you how to eat, what to eat and when to eat in order to not only lose weight but also to optimize your workouts. As part of the P90X nutrition plan, it’s recommended that you take a multivitamin, particularly P90X Peak Health Formula, which was created to perfectly complement the P90X program. But do multivitamins really make a difference?
Like just about any other topic in the health field, you’ll find conflicting opinions if you research the value of a vitamin supplement. There will be a chorus of voices telling you that the only real solution is to lay off the junk food and eat a healthy diet. WE AGREE! You cannot be healthy or optimize P90X if you aren’t following the P90X Nutrition recommendations and are, instead, eating junk food, too many calories, too much sugar and salt and an unhealthy diet that doesn’t include green vegetables and enough protein. That goes without saying!
However, what a multivitamin does do, which research backs up, is ensure that on top of your healthy diet, you’re getting enough of everything that you need and in an absorbable format. This is a good thing! It’s particularly a good thing if you’re doing a draining, taxing workout schedule like P90X where having your body in peak performance mode is critical to your success.
A multivitamin isn’t a magic bullet solution. You can’t take one, then eat a bag of potato chips and then say that you’re healthy because you take multivitamins. However, a multivitamin will help improve your body chemistry, overall nutrition and overall energy level. That’s a good thing. Set your expectations for what a multivitamin should do versus what your personal responsibilities in terms of diet and food and beverage choices are and you’ll see improvements from incorporating a multivitamin into your life!
