Insanity Workout: Dig Deeper and Fit Test
How ready for something as intense as the Insanity Workout are you? The first two sections of the Insanity Workout, Dig Deeper and the Fit Test, will give you a pretty good idea of where you’re starting from. To be fair, the Insanity Workout is hard. It’s very hard. However, completing the first two dvds will give you a good baseline of how ready you are to tackle the challenge.
Dig Deeper shows you how you’ll need to reach down and get that extra push in all of the plyometric Insanity moves. It covers the following:
Jumps and Squats: Dig Deeper demonstrates how you’ll need to use your entire body, not just your quads, to get the most out of the jumps and squats in this workout series. Once you try a few jumps, you’ll see that these are not your standard cardio jumps and lunge-style squats.
Planks: These are essentially where you hold the top position of a push-up for an extended period of time. While doing this, your gluts are pressed down and your weight is on your hands and your toes. Again, after you master the move, you’ll see that you’re in for a challenge.
C-Sit: This one was a hard one to master even for us! Essentially, you’ll need to learn to sit on your butt with your torso and legs creating a V so that the only thing on the floor is your butt and your hands. Then you’re going to go into tons of scissor kicks and core work.

After you finish Dig Deeper, you’ll have a better idea of how plyometrics work and how hard the workout is about to be. It’s at this point that the Insanity Workout does something that most workout dvds don’t do. It takes you through a fitness test so that you can see where you’re starting from. You’ll return to this fitness test every two weeks so that you can see your improvement.
This is not a short fitness test. It includes all of the following: A warm up, stretching, switch kicks, power jumping jacks, power knees (squats), power jumps, globe jumps, suicide jumps, push up style jumping jacks, planks for oblique muscles and a cool down. If you have not been working out previous to starting the Insanity Workout, this fit test will leave you winded. It may even leave you winded if you’re in pretty good shape.
What’s our suggestion? Firstly, stock up on Insanity Nutrition Products because you will need to replenish yourself while doing this workout schedule! Secondly, don’t get discouraged if the fit test is hard for you. The point of the Insanity Workout is to turn you into a buff, lean, fit person. If you were already that way, this workout wouldn’t be as effective.
