Insanity Workout: Core Cardio and Balance
As you probably know by now, Shaun T.’s Insanity Workout is a sixty day workout plan that primarily uses the principles of plyometrics to shape your body into a lean muscle, low fat beach ready machine! To make sure you know what you’re getting into when you enter the Insanity, we’ll be reviewing each of the workouts on the Finish Well Fitness blog. Today, we’ll talk about the fourth workout, Core Cardio and Balance
This is a workout that’s designed to be done in your recovery week (week five) between the intense first month of Insanity and the even more intense second month of Insanity Max. You’ll definitely notice that this is a recovery workout because you won’t feel like dying afterwards! However, the physical fitness elements that this workout focuses on, core training and balance, are critical for you to develop in order to maximize this or any other workout.
This workout is thirty-seven minutes long. While that may seem short, when you’re focusing primarily on core and balance, that’s plenty of time since you need to be so very mentally focused for those exercises.
You’ll start with your standard warm-up and stretch sections, though in this workout they’re abbreviated to a seven-minute warm-up and a five-minute stretch. You’ll now move into a sixteen minute phase of doing all core and balance poses. You’ll feel a little bit like you’re in a pilates or strength-based yoga class. Not to worry. All of these exercises are absolutely essential not only to making your body look great but also to developing your body for the Insanity to come. Next, there will be two “burn” sections that each last for about six minutes. The first burn section focuses on your hip flexors and oblique muscles (this burn will involve a lot of you balancing on one leg while exercising the other leg). The second burn section will be for your shoulders. However, that shoulder workout is done entirely while in squat plie position! Prepare to feel the pain!
This workout includes a lot of balancing on one leg, so you may want to consider a Plyometrics Mat to preserve your knees. Also, during your recovery week it’s good to focus on nutrition. Having the proper nutrition in your system is a key element. Insanity Nutrition Products make accomplishing this easy.
If you’ve already done the Insanity Workout and want something new but just as challenging, or if you want another workout altogether that’s just as hard, consider the P90X workout!

Hello, nice info, it seems you have several followers, I was wondering if you are selling advertising space on your blog? If not, maybe you will in the near future?
Definitely enjoyed the post. Insanity seems to be popping up everywhere on TV lately. This must be the next big workout I assume.
