Is Vegetarianism Right for You?
Often, as people are making an attempt to get healthier, they choose a vegetarian life style as a part of that process. We feel that there’s no perfect solution to diet and health that will fit all people and that vegetarianism is a personal choice. However, there are some things that you should keep in mind if you are considering a vegetarian lifestyle.
Protein is Important! Not only is protein important just in the day-today need for energy, but it’s also critical to the workout element of your effort to get healthy. What? You were just going to change your diet plan and that was your solution to becoming healthier? Any effort to become a healthier person must include a workout plan as well! Workout plans such as the P90X that focus on both cardio and lean muscle building mean that you will need protein! Protein is not only important for building muscles, but it’s also important for repairing muscles after your workout. If you’ve given up meat as a primary source of protein, there are ways that you can supplement that loss. P90X Protein Bars are one way to ensure you’re getting a big dose of protein. The use of Whey Protein (a popular workout supplement derived from, actually, cheese production) is another option that you may want to consider.
Not All Vegetarian Food is Healthier! We’re not just talking about the fact that french fries, though vegetarian, are not a healthy food. Many vegetarian options are just as unhealthy as meat. Many soy products, for example, use soy beans that are treated with the chemical hexane before they are processed. Hexane is a known neurotoxin that’s a byproduct of gas refining! As with any decision you make that may affect your health, do your research first and know what it is that you’ll be eating before you assume that simply giving up meat will be the healthier option for you.
It’s Still About Nutrients and Calories! Whether you’re eating red meat nightly or nothing but leafy greens and tofu every day, you ultimately need to keep two things in mind. The first thing is how many calories you both ate and burned that day. The second thing is that the foods that you ate provided you with the nutrients that you need. If you responsibly make sure that both of those things are happening, then you can be healthy on either an omnivore, carnivore or herbivore diet! Looking to boost your nutritional intake with a quality supplement? Check out our P90X Peak Health Formula – the perfect performance multivitamin!
What you eat is a very personal decision that can impact you mentally and emotionally as well as, obviously, physically. Make the decisions that are right for you but be responsible about your health and your body’s needs.

Sorry – but vegetarianism is definitely not for me.
I heard that Tony Horton is a vegetarian. I can’t imagine having a physique like that and being somewhat “protein-challenged” with a vegetable diet. That dude is nuts.
